“One must wait until the evening to see how splendid the day has been.” – Sophocles

From “The Human Condition: A User’s Manual,” by Arnold Kunst

“Remember, the Bible quote doesn’t read, ‘”Vengeance is mine,” saith the aggrieved.’ No matter what or who it is that has aggrieved you, the Lord will not be suckered in; whatever vengeance He exacts will take account of all the variables on the human spectrum from simple frailty to cold-blooded premeditation. It may not follow my timetable, but it will be both proportionate and inescapable. On the other hand, my sense of compassion is spurred into life by the simple realization that a just God cannot give me the benefit of the doubt but not them. I can’t have it both ways.” - Arnold Kunst
