The elephantiasis of materialism has at its root the conviction that life holds immense riches in store for those who get the balance right, who pay the price in the proper coinage. Conclusion: get the balance right; pay the price in the proper coinage; allow the elephantiasis, no longer necessary, to fall away like some now dead and decaying thing; put materialism in its proper context. Then those immense riches are yours as surely as “yes” trumps “no.”
