"Virtue
stands in the middle" implies a balancing of opposites. We're called on to
subdue this earth, to reverence our world; to be up and doing, to be still and
knowing; to augment this abundant Garden of Eden, to sink into a God-dominated
tranquility such as we were created for, to romp like puppies in God’s own
verdant uplands, to relax as to the center of the earth into God’s own
serenity.
