LINCOLN AND VETERANS: A HOW-TO MANUAL IN THREE [HARD] STEPS

Step one: Only fight wars that should be fought. When you thank troops for helping America [aka. your financial backers] get, say, our oil from under someone else’s ground, the gratitude just might sound hollow
Step two: encourage the team on a regular basis: even though they’re losing one battle after the other, the cause is worth the price, and they’re the ones who can get the job done.
Step three: walk the walk, the way Lincoln did, when he said, “I don’t like that man; I must get to know him better.”
Step four [I was lying about three!]: prepare, long before there’s a war that needs fighting, long before you’re President, for spectacular achievement is ALWAYS preceded by less spectacular preparation.
