“The
Human Condition: A User’s Manual,” by Arnold Kunst

One
reason we can’t seem to think our way through to a solution to a given problem
is that we’re always surrounded by noise, agitation – our spirits are plagued
by what the Eastern mystics call “monkey chatter.” If it’s not a TV or a radio
blaring, it’s a tapping toe that just won’t quit - drumming fingers will
inevitably drown out what the poet called “the still, small voice of God.”
